Australia to South Africa Ford Registry

Fairlane, Fairlane V8, Fairlane 500, Fairmont, Fairmont GT, Ranchero, Ranchero 500 [let me know if I left any out]

My main purpose here is to try and get a good idea of how many of the 1968/9 to 1976 Australian Fords, that were exported to South Africa in CKD (Completely Knocked Down) form, are still around.
I am also still trying to decipher the SA VIN codes from that period - if anyone can help with that please e-mail me.
The American Fairlane/Torino/Ranchero Registry by Jon Huntley and the American Fo Size Registry by Adrian Clements are good examples of what I am trying to achieve here, with our Australian to South African Fairlanes, Fairmonts and Ranchero's. Eventually I hope to have a S A site that can offer all kinds of info about our Fords , as they do about theirs.

However, as South African information is scarce, I need all the help I can get, which is why I would really appreciate it if anyone who has old adverts, service or owners handbooks, etc could contact me. All information provided will be credited to the sender.

No Vin Number, did find a Data plate under the passenger seat with this on it:
E.GLADE/PARCH
F.LANE.4DR.SED.A/T.P/S. and then the SIDO Number.

Of course, having all this info doesn't help in working out how our VIN codes worked, on the cars where I have a definite colour for example, I don't have a VIN, and on the ones with a VIN, I don't know if they have the original engines in or not, its all very confusing, and I am going to re-visit the whole thing again some time soon, if however, you can send me the VIN numbers off your Ford vehicles, as outlined on the Introduction page then maybe I will be able to make head and tail of it one day.
